The Northeast Product Safety Society (NPSS), affiliated with the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (IEEE/PSES), will be hosting a regular meeting with a technical presentation.  The presentation starts at 7:30pm. However, most people arrive at 7pm to mingle and network with like-minded people.  Refreshments will be provided.

Manufacturers producing medical electrical equipment for the home healthcare environment must now meet the mandatory requirements of IEC 60601-1-11. This standard focuses on the probability of failure in a particular situation and the potential hazard of the error.

During this presentation Mike Brousseau, safety group manager for Intertek, will provide attendees with an extensive understanding of IEC 60601-1-11. He will discuss what manufacturers need to know in order to meet the standards, before submitting a product to market, and will address the challenges associated with the use of medical devices in the home.
